If you are positive that your kitten had rabies and you came into contact with it or handled it, or the kitten even got near your other cats and even that aweful neighbors dog, you need to notify the animal control. You may need to have a series of rabies shots. Not only that, but if that dog came into contact with the kitten, it now could be carrying the rabies. It has a 6 month incubatin period, so you may not show or see symptoms now, but if i were you, I would tell the animal control and then they will have to come out to investigate and maybe take the dog for quarrantine. But i am nervous for you if you handled that kitten even before it showed symptoms, you could have gotten exposure to the rabies. If in fact you are sure it was rabies.

Omg im soo sorry, you poor thing. i just turned 16 and i live in fort myers florida but i used to have a house ON lake placid lol, but if anything i mean anything being dog cat hawk, etc ever killed or even attacked my little black frizzle roo who is my special boy id sit outside with my dads shotgun and theyd be gone lol i had a coon in my cage today in broad daylight eating my eggs and trying to get my hen who just went broody out of her nesting box, lets just say he wont be coming back anytime soon lol.

Then one of my white kittens shows up bubbling at the mouth and falling over, he died within a few hours.
Trauma to the thorax can cause those symptoms. I would still see about contacting AC regarding the rabies issue, just in case. It's just not worth the risk of ignoring rabies.

I agree with darbella. If your kitty had rabies it's critical you go visit your doctor ASAP, and alert your neighbor and anyone else who had contact with it - rabies is a virus carried in saliva and results in death if not treated. no, he had dissapeared a few days so he wasnt around the other animals and i used gloves to touch him and put him in a pen.I probly should have let them put him down right then and there but I just cant when I think they may have just a lil chance.

First of all, I am sorry for your losses.

Free advice:

Do not take action against the neighbor's animals, they are just doing what comes naturally to them, and harming them has the potential to become a powder-keg.

Instead, call the police and ask to file a report of damage due to negligent owners. Under Florida law (Reference ), the owners are

liable for any damage done by their dogs to a person or to any animal included in the definitions of "domestic animal" and "livestock".

Document everything, with pictures if possible. Document the dog coming into your yard, calls made to the neighbors, damage done to the animals, etc.

Then, consider filing suit against the owners for your losses. In small claims court, I believe you can file for the financial value plus pain & suffering. I realize that we live in a very sue-happy society, and that is a whole other conversation, but they have clearly had an ongoing problem with controlling their animals, who crossed your uncle's property lines to cause the damage. You are at least entitled to the replacement of your animals.​
