would 118 degrees kill the embryo?

When I came back home the temperature rose to 118 degrees so I lowered it back down but would it have harmed the embryos? I was also wondering what would be the perfect temperature to keep the eggs in I heard some people saying 99 degrees is good and some saying 100 or 103 degrees so I'am really confused.

If your temperature was really 118*, they're probably toast. Forced air incubators are usually run at 99.5*~100*. Still air run 100*~101*. If I'm wrong, somebody will tell you. My Hova-bator 1588 runs @ 99.5*.

I hope they didn't stay like that for a while I came back from school and the temperature was that high I hope they are okay

First, let me say I am no expert. I am starting my first batch of eggs tomorrow but I have read a bunch of posts on here.

If you have a still air incubator you should have your temps around 102 and if you have a fan on it the temps shopuld be closer to 99.5

Im not sure if those temps would kill the eggs but I read a post where a guy had his raise to 110 and he hatched some. I would advise to not give up on them because the temp may not have spiked for very long and perhaps the eggs are tuff ones, nothing can be lost by continuing. I have heard lots of people say that they thought for sure the eggs were dead only to have some hatch later.

Anyways, good luck. If nothing else there is always next time.
