Would a hawk come *in* to the coop?

Upon rereading your post, I don't think it was a hawk because of the size of your girl. It was probably a fox. I've lost some to foxes and they always took the body away, leaving feathers in their wake.

That same hawk I wrote about in the other thread also tried to lift off my silkie (between the day he was found hiding under the table and the day he actually killed her) and he couldn't get her off the ground. That day, my dh was right there and the hawk let her go and flew away. Hope you get that fence of yours fixed soon! In the meantime, close up the coop at night. Good luck!

The more I think about this, the more I'm thinking it was 4-legged. The hawk would have had to *walk* into the coop (entering through a 14 sq. inch door), attack the bird, and then drag it back out the door. It then had to fly off with it, over a 4+ foot fence.

Poor girls. They must've been terrified. We cleaned out the feathers in there today and found feathers from several of the other birds as well.
