would a hen go broody straight after raising a previous batch?

i bought a hen from a farmer and the hen had some chicks with it they are about 6 weeks old now and the mother is losing interest in them. the farmer dude said that this hen always goes broody and i want to put my own chicken eggs under her to hatch out after i sell the other chicks. do i have to wait a period of time for her to becoming broody again?

It's a hormonal thing. She might decide she wants to go broody again right away, but she might also take a break from it. My silkie (silkies are notorious broodies) went broody back to back this year, so it does happen sometimes.
