Would cutting the thing attaching the chick to the egg be bad?

Should i cut the thing that is attaching the chick to the egg? Would it be bad for the chick?

If the chick still has cord attatched at the "navel" give it time to separate and pull away on it's own. If it doesn't and you must you can cut it. If it is thick it's best to tie it off before cutting as a precaution, if it is real thin-hair like then just cutting it is perfectly ok. Just don't pull or yank on it.
 
what thing? did the chick just hatch??
Yes it did just hatch and it was attached to the egg with a weird yellow strand and i wanted to know if it was bad, and if i should cut it, and if it would hurt but i have handled it and it is fine.
