would food grade DE kill black ants?

hello everyone, I have a little ant problem in one of my coops, there by the next box, i cleaned the coop out but they keep coming back, i was wondering if food grade DE woul dkill them? and where can i get food grade DE in New Jersey? Thanks

I did not have any luck with DE killing the ants. When we had a problem we used OrangeGuard. Its a completely natural pest ocntrol. The only store that sells it is Ace Hardware. You can go online as well. The best par tof this is is has an orange smell and can be used anywhere around food,animals,kids. its a water base. and it works

Everytime ants get carried in the kitchen by my mom's plants, we get rid of them with DE. We get it at Lowes. Just remember that when it is wet, it is not effective. Once it dries, it's okay though.

The DE that you get at Lowe's is NOT food grade DE and shouldn't be used in a kitchen, near food or around chickens.

ok, so orangeguard is okay to use in the coop with chickens in it? ill have to look more into that. Thanks

yup it's good. You could actually, just peel and orange or make lemon ade and toss the peels on the area where the ants are. They'll leave.
