Somewhere humid like GA you will probably have to do some extra work on keeping the run DRY. (Hopefully this is an area that's reasonably dry to begin with, like on the side of the house opposite from where rain/storms usually come from). If the run is not DRY you will have not only odor but a lot of extra biting flies hangin' around the porch.

It's not an unreasonable idea or anything, just make sure you have thought about and are ok with (either putting up, or working extra hard to try to prevent) the issues.
