He is a 4 month old Blue Wyandotte x Silver Laced Wyandotte cross. This batch of chicks think they are ducks! Couldn't keep them out of the water from the day they were born! He likes to stand in the mud puddles and we just had some heavy rain here in Northern California. By the way, since I have your attention, Kelseygirl707 told me you have beautiful Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas. Do you sell eggs?

I do but because I only have one hen, and untested fertility in the bator, I would recommend you wait. I would hate to seel eggs to someone before I test hatch them myself. The roo is a Blue Wheaten and the hen is a Wheaten....

Here is the roo

He has matured more since that pic too!

Oooooh, your rooster is beautiful!!

I'll catch up with you later about hatching eggs. I have to wait awhile anyway because I have 9 BLRW's chicks I just hatched from shipped eggs and I'm on a waiting list for Bill Braden's BLRW hatching eggs, and he said it wouldn't be too long of a wait. I'm a little cramped for room until I cull down to my best birds! I just love all the blue colored breeds (I also have Blue Wyandottes) and my husband loves the blue eggs, so I really want to add some BW Ameraucanas to my flock!

I hatched a RIR cockerel last fall that the DW named Lil' Hitler. Believe me, he lived every minute up to his name. DW ended up in the ER for stitches when he attacked her at only 12wks old. He was about 2 days from going to freezer camp when he ended up on a friends farm. He is well loved and taken care of, but is as mean a rattlesnake.

I have a Silkie roo named Hector that just became sexually mature, and overnight he went from my sweet, adorable ball of fluff to rooster from hell! My kids were always able to grab him and kiss him and hold him with no problems, but now he chases my younger daughter around the yard and flogs her every chance he gets. He tried to flog my older daughter once, but she grabbed him and held him like a football, and after being humilated like that, he didn't mess with her again. But he is out to get my younger daughter! I almost don't want her in the chicken yard at all because of how he has been acting. I don't want to get rid of him, I love him to pieces, and my Cochin roos were punks when they hit sexual maturity over the winter, so I'm hoping his hormones will calm down and he'll go back to being the sweet boy he used to be. He knows better than to even try to flog me. In fact, if he is trying to flog my daughter and he sees me coming, he runs. Smart boy!

I still grab him and hug him and kiss him. I talk to him all the time and he knows his name. He just turned a year. Man I hope this phase he's in ends real soon. I don't know how much more of him I can take!
