would not have believed it if I didn't see it!

I have seen this before but it amazes me evertime....I had a rooster that would jump and spin in the air and knock them to the ground and they dove... The hawk would tumble and all the birds would attack it.

Way to go Tweety!

My smallest pullet has been terrified of all the others because she was pecked badly about 4 months ago BUT she is gaining confidence. I'm so proud of Opal...she has begun to stand up to the bullies who come after her water and food...what a hoot to see the stare down and watch the bully try to walk away with their dignity intact.

Sure wish you had been able to get a video for Funniest Home Video...bet it would have been a winner!

ETA: Love the description of the scene...made me laugh.

Those Hawks scare me. We have the Red Tailed here and one sits up in the big tree next to our run watching the girls. I still would be watchful, he knows they are there now. I saw the same hawk carrying off a rabbit and a baby blue jay.

Thanks. I guess the money I spent on collage was good for something. Tweety is an awsome hen. She is my only bantam and runs around with about 40 large breed birds, but pound for pound she thinks she is the biggest bird in the yard. Here is a pic of her above my LB roo. She was running to every nest box kicking the other hens out of them. My Roo saw this and he got into one of the nest boxes, called some of the girls into that box and he protected them so they could lay their eggs.

I have not lost any chickens to hawks or anything yet. I thought my big roo was doing the protecting, but maybe its Tweety.
