Would this work for nest boxes?

A guy we know that has several chickens used 4 5-gallon buckets laying on their side, so there's 2 on bottom and 2 on top all screwed together. He's gonna put some straw in them and use them for nest boxes.

He's pretty new to chickens too like we are, but he has a lot more than us. He's raised them since they were babies and his girls have just started laying, so he screwed the buckets together for a quick nest box.

It seems like it would work.

Yes that is a fairly common nestbox but you need to put a little half moon shaped something or other on the front of them to keep the hen's from scratching out all of their nesting material.
