Would this work for quail?

Hi friends- I built this set up for my two silkie males and I am not super sure in the spring that they will be going back into it. Would it be something I could use for quail? The floor is 5x10. I know I would need to wrap it with wire or netting of some sort but other than that would it work for 5-8 quail?

Thanks so much!

Yes the whole area wrapped in half inch hardware cloth to keep rats out could work just fine for quail.
I would not use the ramp so if you wanted them to be able to use that little room you could cut the legs off and drop it down to the floor.

Or just give them hiding spots inside the run and not use the house is an option to right? From what I’m reading they don’t need a “coop”

That's a wonderful amount of space for the number of quail you have. :)

It'll cost a pretty penny for the hardware cloth to cover the run but definitely worth it. Rats are the worst. Be aware of their ability to burrow under and into the run.

Hidey spots would be perfect for them. Though, for kicks and giggles you could keep the ramp and see if they use it. maybe sprinkle treats on it to motivate them to go up into the house. Mine use ramps just fine.

Thank you for the input :) it does have a burried apron 18 inches outside all the way around that was installed for the chickens.

Right now we have a good amount of snow in Michigan so nothing new will be happening for a few months at least! :)
