This came to me as a possible explanation for a problems my hens are having with weak shells. I know that drinking soda pop inhibits calcium absorption for people due to the acidity. I wonder if too much AVC would have a similar affect? I never measure when I use it, but aim for 1-2 tsp per gallon. Do you think this could be causing the shell problem? I think I'll stop the AVC for a while just in case, but would love to know if I'm even on the right track...

Thanks!

Hmm, well I've just been reading that ACV actually helps the body absorb calcium, so sounds like I'm way off....

I would love to hear your ideas! Some of my hens are starting to act broody, but there's not way I'd let them hatch the quality of eggs they've been laying. The shells are very poor.

No, it shouldn't cause a problem
I had a hen with weak shells, and I just upped the oyster shell and added it to the feed, rather than a separate dish.
