We went to TSC today to get some supplies for the farm and of course, we had to peek at the chicks. After finding an employee to tell her that there were several dead chicks in the bins (to which she shrugged), I saw a bin that said "Araucanas - Lay blue/green eggs". They had 7 little chicks in there. She claimed they were born Monday but they already have all their wing feathers in and to me, they look like 2 1/2 weeks old or so. My poor husband tried walking away very fast but I was able to buy them when he wasn't looking. Tney are now safely on the farm. I took some pictures of them but forgot my camera out at the coop. They are all light brown and several have lovely little stripes. They look like little chipmunks.

Might they be real Araucanas? I have some Ameraucanas already and I don't think they are those since they didn't have the cheeks mine do. What does an Easter Egger look like? I don't particularly care what they are. I just want to know.

Thanks!

EE does mean Easter Egger but it is a type of chicken. They are mixed breed but the one thing they all have in common is that they can lay a colored egg. The different colors possible are blue, green, tan, pink - I think that's it. Each chicken will only lay one color egg.

Easter Egger is to differentiate them from the breeds that lay blue eggs - which are Aracauna and Ameracuna (not sure on the spelling there). These two types only lay blue eggs - not green etc ...

Maybe someone can explain it better than me, I am still learning.

Oooooh ok. I got what ya mean. I looked in the glossary but to no avail. Thanks!!

i got a mixed batch of chicks from TSC last year. 3 or 4 were like a mink coat colored chick. they had fuzzy cheeks. 2 survived and one of them lays a green egg and the other a pale beige/pink
