Hi! Today was my baby chickens 4 month birthday. I will slowly be transferring them from their run to free ranging with my older flock. They do go back into the coop at night on their own so I plan to let them out in the early evenings, with supervision of course. I am hoping after a couple weeks we can work up to all day out without supervision... that is how my older chickens live and they appear to be happy.

Welcome to BYC! You have a beautiful mixed flock. I especially love the Black Australorp in the top picture. They are my favorite standard breed (hardy, gentle and calm, and excellent layers of large, brown eggs). Good luck with your flock.

They are amercaunas. Not true easter eggers, but they lay blue eggs. Unfortunately I bought 7 straight run and only one of them turned out to be a lady!

Thank you. The black chicken is supposed to be a Jersey Giant. For that matter, I bought 4 of them and it turned out that only 2 were Jersey Giants. The other 2 are gold laced wyandottes! (the 2 breeds look the same- all black with a white butt- when they are little chicks. So maybe none of them were Jersey Giants. ??? Oh well, whatever they are, I am glad I ended up with a pair.
