Well, I think Paloma has stopped eating. Even scrambled egg and treats cannot tempt her, but when I take her outside, she scratches most energetically and happily and eats greens. She tries to run around. She complains about being brought back inside. She even tidbitted over a couple of small worms she found and eventually ate (I appreciated the offer). But her food, mash, eggs, treats (Scratch and Peck chick feed)? No. I do have a separate cup with grit and oyster shell for her, too.
There is maybe one dropping in her infirmary since I cleaned that out... Friday?..and her droppings on the garage floor (I let her out to stretch her legs and wings) look like this. I have put NutriDrench in her water and gave her a dropperful. The FishMox of course hasn't arrived yet. It is starting to feel a little like I am losing the battle.
The first photo is from the morning, the second from yesterday.
EDITED TO ADD I do think part of the problem, if not all of it, is that she is extremely lonely. But I'm not able to set a up a spot for her in the coop until tomorrow. My husband thinks we ought to let her back with the flock for the afternoon in the hopes she will then eat. I work from home and can keep an ear on things, and Paloma is the boss hen, too.
