WOW 100 racoons

We are now in our second year with chickens. Last year, no problems.
This summer, we have done in 1 possum, and hubby has now shot 4 coons.
We have lost one adult hen and one pullet to the coons.
I tried the havaheart trap with a can of cat food as bait. Whatever visited the trap
that night, ate the cat food, and basically said thank you.
Plan is if I catch something in it, to fill the rubbermaid water tub high enough
to cover the trap with stupid animal in it.
I like the idea of using a sardine can for bait and just poking holes in it.
And not opening it

Wonder how it would work to put the cage in the rubbermaid water tub.
Then if it did catch something, water could be added real easy.
I think I should go measure the trap and see if it will fit in the tub.

Local park ranger at state park told me they trapped 50+ coons in havihart traps this season; then, send them to be euthanized so the public would not complain about animal cruelty.

HAVIHART no, HAVIGUN, or HAVICONEBEAR - Both kill swiftly and finally. I have trapped 4 coons with conibear trap at my coop this spring and summer - I use sardines or leftover roasted chicken bones for bait. Coons are killers and will not have mercy on your birds. I've seen the slaughter after coons catch a chicken. Not for my birds, nor do I wish that on anyone else.

There are too many coons since the states stopped paying for their pelts. Now they are out of control.

Good Luck

Update. Well he got me again. I bought a can of sardines in water and barely opened the can so he go a good wiff and tied the tab to the back of the trap. That sucker chewed through the twine and stole the whole can. Didn't even set the trap off. Now I know this trap works just fine as Friday I cought a squirrel in it.
I just hope he has a nasty can cut on his tongue.

If wild life control is not able to help, here is a privet place. They are good and very nice to work with. They are in O'Fallon, MO. but come all the way out to where we live - 7 miles north of Troy, MO. They also are very reasonable on their prices.
