Wow! Cayenne and ACV work!

The pullets I have that I was trying to bring into lay are 22 weeks and over and have red combs and wattles and I gave them the cayenne pepper I'd say a tablespoon mixed with leftover scraps of meat and veggies or their weekly greek yogurt every day for 2 weeks about. Is that not enough? Oh, it was shared between 9 chicks.

I don't like giving my hens ACV or Cayenne pepper, because it might make them lay more at the moment, but when every chicken is born, they have a limited number of 'egg cells' which they make into eggs. Giving them ACV isn't going to make them produce more. Even if you 'force' your hens to lay all winter, it means they'll probably start slacking off ealier in life. The more you give them the sooner they'll stop laying completally.

Where do you get this idea Star? All female animals are born with all the egg cells they will ever have. And it is far more than they could possibly actually use. Hens slow down their laying at a certain age based on hormones and life cycle, just like any other animal and women with menopause. It's a life stage, not a race.

hi, not to butt in on your conversation, but when I thought my turkey had blackhead, I had raised them with my chickens, I gave them cayenne pepper. I just opened the container and sprinkled it over the exposed food and sprinkled it generously in their food and water. I never measured. Everyone is still alive over a month later. I can 't believe it. I hate spicy foods, lol
It turns out that the dogs had chased the turkey when he flew in their pen. He had broken his wing. I'll continue to use it with the food but prefer fresh water or with a glub of acv.
I didn't know that it would increase their laying. Hmmmm...
