These 4 were all laid today.

Have you ever had a egg like this. I can't close my carton. And especially compare to all the other ones. My chickens (5 hens) have only been laying for 12 days

Yep, I have...

They happen now and then, it will be a double yolk, especially in pullets just starting out, they don't have the egg factory finely tuned yet...

We love the big eggs, two fried eggs and only one chance to get a shell in it.

My sussex hen, still very young lays these every few days and they are getting bigger and bigger. Todays was a shock, 3 inches long and 95 gms, the one before was 112gms, I too cannot close the box. I worry sometimes if she is going to use up her quota of eggs

Seems a shame to break and eat them, but the joy of finding a double yolker is still amazing

I give my girls extra treats after one of those, just seems like the absolute least I can do.

I have. One of my BO girls laid a couple of eggs like that in her first year. She sustained a prolapse, too though, so I'm glad it wasn't more than a couple. Surprisingly, none of her giant eggs were double yolked. The whites were a little more watery than usual.

Me too, lovely tinned sweetcorn, they would steal it off me if they could, they even follow me into the kitchen!!
