Some Time this week 1 year from now I started my wonderful adventure into the life of chickens.
It all started as a bit of a money making scheme but soon turned into for want of a better word, an obsession.
I was hooked or as some of you say, I had caught the poultry bug.
*In my 1st year, which was much of trial and error, worms, bugs parasites and some deaths I have collected approx 2,200 eggs, made 31 new buddies and have had just a wonderful less stress free time!
*In my first year I only lost 1 pullet and a chick, the chick went to a Goanna, the pullet..Well I don't really want to say as sh is now dearly missed and this is a JOYOUS time!!
.
*I made my own coop, twice.
*I gained and sold a lovely rooster
*had a few feuds with my neighbors
*Dealt with mites and lice
*Cleaned out my coop like 100 times.lol. But now have deep litter, which is great.
*I now have 19 hens, 3 pullets, 6 chicks, 2 ducks and one rooster!
I have sold and gained many new different chickens and had a fantastic time.
This is my flock now, they are all different ages, names and personalities. Hope you enjoy.
