Welcome to the site! I've seen a lot of people on here saying that insulating can just cause more problems. As with basically everything in chicken world there are a million opinions and beliefs

I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do with my metal shed/coop. At the least I thought about putting plastic sheeting up, I'm not sure that\ it would do anything though.

chickens handle cold much better than heat. They need well built draft free coop with necessary ventilation. For the outdoor run some people put up heavy plastic around the sides where the wind is usually the worst it will also cut down on blowing snow. A strong covered roof that can handle a heavy snow load would encourage them to go outside and offer some rain protection when the seasons change.
