Shadow...our Barred Rock was in the nest box directly above her. Moved her after dark last night onto Poppy x Solo eggs. She was anxious to get out this morning and when she came back went back into the nest box above, so I moved her back down to her eggs again and she settled down happily. I'll have to watch her a little more closely for a few days to direct her into her nest til she gets the hang of where they are.

Ladies and Gentlemen we have another hatch today. This one was stressful.

If anyone remembers last year Black killed her first born and I pulled her eggs, placed them under another broody and had to break her. I don't know what happened, but it's one of those in the moment, you have to make a decision now things. Do I wait and hope she don't kill any more or yank the eggs?
So we gave her a second chance this year, placing 7 of Ravens eggs under her. This was turning out catastrophic also as by yesterday 3 eggs remained and I've had to watch her closely all day to see what happens. I'm happy to report all 3 have successfully hatched and doing great so far. I've added water and feed and she's tidbitting away.
