Wrath's Marans

Our final and 19th broody so far is a Black Australorp in Kings coop, sitting on 6 Lil Jessie eggs. This is the broody I stuck the 6th Momma little under. It's eyes were still closed and I didn't have much hope for it to survive being in with P/G so here we are. She kept it warm and gave it time to strengthen up, did real good Thursday but yesterday she wanted out... so out they went into the run for awhile. I gave them a little time together and then scooped them back up and back on her eggs. I wasn't sure how this was going to end up, but happy to report 5 of the 6 Lil Jessie eggs have hatched today and I heard peeps from the 6th egg at lights out. And Mommas little 6th is all happy and strong now, I'll move them down to the brooder tomorrow and get better pics.

The Ayam Cemanis look like baby crows.
These were super tiny day olds, 1/2 the size of my day old Marans. Not sure if this is normal for the breed or they were pullet eggs.

Just an observation. Either way I'm happy to finally have some Fibros.

Lil Black's hatch was Monday. She had 2 Solo and 4 Chloe (Mommas only daughter) eggs and hatched 3 of Chloes. View attachment 4219953View attachment 4219954View attachment 4219955

This is the 4th attempt and fail for Poppy x Solo. Solo is now molting, so no eggs but when she starts laying again, I'm going to collect for one final hatch. Need to figure out what's going on here with Poppy.
That last photo is totally adorable!

Sorry about the failed hatch though.

I’ve never seen a day old Ayam Cemani but I believe they have more of a game bird body type and lay small to medium eggs. so I would expect them to be smaller than a Marans chick.
