Happy new year (I’m saying this in 2026!) my friend. I like the look of that little blue chick, is that a silver marans?
Happy New Year, my friend.
OE.. Poppy x Christy. Curious to see how it feathers out with Blue/Silver/Gold involved, and fingers crossed its a pullet.

Update on these eggs, I finally candled them and all of them are going into lockdown tomorrow. He gave me 3 extras so 15 eggs are fertile. That’s not saying they’ll hatch but I sure hope some do! Happy new year!
Wish you the best of luck with your hatch. Please post pics.

wishing you great luck ,
chooks man

Lock down, they should hatch Sunday into Monday. The eggs were pretty good sized so a few may take longer. Air cells looked pretty good but I would have liked them a little larger.

I run the incubator dry until hatch, how about you guys? I used to worry about humidity for years but now I just add water at the end and get good hatches here in the Midwest USA. Do you guys do anything different? Do you think Marans eggs are different than other breeds or is that just nonsense? I think they lose moisture slower than leghorns, I actually incubated some side by side recently. The leghorns had bigger air cells and were more fresh than the Marans eggs. But that could have been a one time thing.
