Here's the article. 3 million eggs a day is gone from the food supply. I'm trying to figure out how long it would take to replace the chickens and the egg production.

What would it take to replace 100 of thousands of chickens to get a farm of this size up and running again. If it takes 21 days to incubate then lets say 6 months to raise them to point of lay - at least 7 months. Are there enough hatcheries in the US to replace all the chicks? How much capacity do the hatchery incubators have?

I would love to hear what people think about this. And THANK GOD I have my little flock in the back yard. I can make sure my mother in law has eggs and even have enough to sell a dozen maybe two to neighbors, because the stores in my neck of the woods are low on eggs.

Well it looks like they had a few chicken houses. So hopefully it’s not the whole 3 million per day gone. I hate that it happened and I feel bad for the chickens.

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but how often did we hear of egg plant fires and processing plant fires and stuff before “possible food shortages” were being talked about on the news?
