I have 6 pullets that have just started laying. Usually I get 3-4 sometimes 5 eggs a day, though the eggs are getting larger and they are being layed more consistently. I am waiting for bird six (Dewey) to start laying. She must be the youngest. I thought she may have layed her first egg yesterday as I got 4 full sized eggs and one little one. Today though I went and collected the eggs and there were 5. Unfortunately the one egg was small and all wrinked. I broke it open and found that it had a very thin shell and the contents were very watery, though the yolk was normal. Is that something that is normal for a chicken just starting to lay, or should I be concerned? I have one chicken that lays hugh double yolkers so she sometimes skips a day. These hens are the sex-linked reds. Any thoughts?
