Hey all,

My Calla is a big, beautiful 1 year old black sex link who has been laying wrinkly eggs for several months now. I've read that Infectious Bronchitis (IB) could be a cause, and I have a couple other girls in my flock of 6 who have done some sneezing lately, but no other symptoms that would point to IB. I do have one hen who has been battling waterbelly for about 6 months, but that's from a problem with her heart and lungs so I don't see how it would be related.

The girls get 17% layer feed and table scraps. I live in the city, so they don't get too many fresh greens, though I try to trade eggs for grass clippings about once a week.

Again, she seems very strong and healthy, but I'm curious if anyone else has seen eggs like this precede more serious problems.

Thanks!

- Z

It kinda looks like she pushed it out half way when she was laying and than laid the other half (sorry if it doesn’t make sense)

Really hard to say exactly what is causing this..
Could be stress, why is she wearing blinders?
Could be just a shell gland glitch, could be mild case of respiratory infection or whatever is causing the ascites(can be disease, not just a heart problem) in the other bird.

They should do fine on just the layer feed, might want to try that for a few weeks.
Are the grass clippings you are giving free of any lawn treatments?
