Can chickens lay eggs that are different colors than they did before?

Do purebred sometimes lay different colored eggs than normal?

Can females get pointed saddle feathers?

One of these has gotta be a yes, because today I got 2 tiny little pullet sized brown eggs.

The only problem is that the two brown egg layers that could lay them are male turkens. My two pullets I have that could have laid them are a spitzhauben and a calico princess. Spitz apparently lay white eggs and calico lay a cream egg. These are noticeably darker than my whites and creams.

The only other birds I have that lay eggs that size are my Japanese and they lay white eggs. Have for almost 3 years now.

I'll post pictures of the eggs and turkens male's tomorrow but I'm really, really confused. My only other brown egg layer lays eggs the size of my literal fist and she also laid today so she couldn't have done them. Not to mention instead of brittle shells, these are nice and hard like eggs should me. My brown layer hadn't laid a nonbrittle egg in about 2 months

OK. So have you had any eggs yet from your spitzhauben and/or your calico princess ? Do you know for sure that they lay white and cream coloured eggs?

1&2.Not different color but more or less bloom can create varying shades of color.
3. They can look pointy due to feather pattern.

Might have to 'catch them in the act' to be sure...nest stalking.

Yes....and.....
Do you know for sure that your breeds are truly what you think they are?

Well I'm assuming the mystery eggs came from them. They're my only two pullets in this one coop if my turkens are actually male. I had to look up what egg color they lay because I've never had them before. And I know that this isn't cream, since I have other birds in a different space that lay cream eggs and they're way lighter.

Well they look like pictures online. My spitz is definitely a spitz and my calico doesn't look like anything else.

I'm not sure how I'll catch them in the act since I can't be down at their coop all day. I guess I'll just have to see if my Japanese lay eggs the same day as these if they show up again.

My turkens are just red birds so there isn't really a pattern to to their feathers. They just have really pointy saddle feathers.
