One of my chicks made a pip at the wrong side of the egg and is slowly breaking the shell over to the correct end. Is this normal when a chick makes a pip at the wrong end??

From the few that I've had, most will zip and hatch just fine from the pointy end. I did help one though that was zipping more vertical than horizontal. I waited to see if the chick would hatch on its own but decided to step in after it had been trying with little progress.

Can you post a picture of the pip?

I'd leave it till morning, looks like there is a slice in the membrane so the little one should be able to get air just fine. Generally it can take about 24hrs from first pip to hatch, oftentimes wrong end pips can take a bit longer.
