I have left all of the silkie and polish eggs in the house for the last 2 weeks hoping that my silkie would decide to sit, and hatch out some babies. Well..not so much luck..exactly. She will sit on them at night, and sit on them at times through out the day, as well as the polish will sit on them for a period of time, but no one sits all day and night.

I am curious to know if these eggs are bad? Or what will exactly happen with them? Thanks for all of your input!

If they have not been consistantly incubated by a sitting hen the embryoes have most likely died. I would toss them at the risk of a rotten egg exploding. You don't want to clean up that mess.

ewww thanks for the heads up! Bummer b.c I gave my rooster away and those were the last fertile eggs!!

Not all hens will go broody. Some never go broody. It is a hormonal thing. Leaving eggs in a nest will not induce a hen to go broody. Wait until you know for sure a hen is broody then get her some hatching eggs if you don't have your own.
