A friend of mine recently hatched out some eggs from another friends breeding stock. I'm helping her start a breeding business, so I've been doing some research for her. I heard today that she got an excellent hatch rate, but one chick hatched with wry neck. My question is, why would a newly hatched chick have wry neck? Is it possible that it is incubation issues, because she is a beginner hatcher, or is it genetic. If it is genetic then we might have some real issues, for odvious reasons. This is the only chick that has hatched with this issue out of a good handful we've hatched in the past few weeks, so its not reoccurring so far.
Thanks for the help guys!

Wry neck can be caused from a few things, but i would think the result of genetics for a newborn chick. hope your chick gets better. You will need vitamin E.
My thoughts as well. Vitamin deficiencies, injury, etc, don't seem very likely for a newly hatched chick.
I hope so as well, I'll be keeping in touch with her to make sure her baby is making progress. :)
