I have a 3 or 4 week old silkie chick who yesterday I noticed has an abnormal head twitch. So far, shes the only one.
This batch I bought also had a crossbeak, and she had another chick hatch stargazing with crossbeak as well but that happened after I already took these babies.
Im not sure if its the start of wryneck or something else but if I can ever get a video ill share. Maybe its incorrect incubation?
She still eats, drinks, and plays.
They got 1 small bag of nutrena medicated feed last week. Now theyre on unmedicated nutrena chick feed. Have a heat plate, pine shavings as bedding, grit available, and a little dirt bath.
Sorry for the long post. I searched videos and threads here and cant fully understand what to do.
Vitamin E 400 IU, and b complex tabs. How often? Once a day or 3x? Is it 1/4 of the tab? Since she is eating can I put it on a little scrambled egg? Do I need anything else? Is it best to dip her beak in the broken vitamin gel instead?
I have save a chick vitamins and probiotics in the water, should I continue that?
Do I need to treat the other chicks?
If its not wryneck, what else would it be and would I do?
Sorry again so many questions. My first 8 chickens from murdochs were so easy, no issues in their 1.5 years of life. This is stressful having mulitple issues keep popping up.

For a video upload it to YouTube and post the link here. You could also take a picture.
The vitamin E 400IU is given daily. I believe you are correct on the B complex dosage, I think that's only once a day. You also need to give egg for selenium.
That's all the treatment I would do. You only need to treat the one with wry neck.

A video of the head twitch might help. Wry neck includes stargazing, any twisting of the neck sideways, downward, upward, and sometimes they may walk backwards or in circles. Squeeze 400 IU of vitamin E softgel into the beak of give on some food daily. Give 1/4 of human B complex tablet daily, crushed in a spoonful of water or on food. Giving just a little scrambled egg daily with alos deliver selenium. Wry neck and walking backward is a neurological symptom, and can be a sign of E or B1 thiamine deficiency, a head injury, and is seen in certain diseases. Silkies are prone to it. Feed any out of a small bowl or cup while holding them if they do nit seem to get food and water. Mix a little feed with water to make a paste and try that.

Thank you. If i find poly vi sol should i also give her a couple drops of that, or will that be too much? She can still look forward and stretch her neck, but she has this on and off twitching. Once it made her stumble. She looks clean in her ears/face but should i give her a bath too?

Thank you! Since she is currently still running around and eating, is it ok for her to stay with the others? Also is the save a chick still good in the water?

I would give the human vitamin E and B complex plus egg as posted above. The dosage is important, and I know what those are in the ones I recommended. Not much selenium is needed for chickens, just what the egg will give.
Thank you! I tried today and she was freaking out hopefully tomorrow is easier.
