Black Java!
Here is NPIP info. Search by state here.

To ship chicks, one must be NPIP. But, people will pursue NPIP bc they get inspected and tested. As I understand it, it can vary by state, but I don't know all the details.
** Here are the appropriate NPIP stock codes for
Java:
"R" prefix indicates a regular sized chicken

"W" prefix indicates Bantam size.

So, you will chick on the state you want to search. It will open a many page document that looks confusing - lots of codes. But, those are the stock codes (found in a link on the left side of the NPIP site). So, use your "Find" function in the program. For me, it is in a drop down menu under Edit. Type in the desired code you want to find in the doc ( such as "R78"). It will find all instances of this, including longer codes. I found NONE in CO for R78, but I searched Ohio, where I live, and out of 7 hits, only 3 were for "R78" rather than a longer code.
Now, this will give you many sources. So, it will be up to you to search fb for farm pages or similar (no selling on fb), or on CL, or their own website. Sometimes their phone number is listed. Typically, an NPIP person/breeder will sell somewhere, somehow bc it takes some effort to get NPIP, and it does have a cost per year and the benefit of being able to ship.

The good thing here, is that Java are listed as in the "Watch" category, rather than "critical" or "threatened"
Link below looks good, but not updated for a few years. However, might have breeders listed that may still be breeding Javas:

And, the Ohio National Show - Thousands of birds are there to compete! The largest Poultry show in the US, I believe. And, there is a whole area for birds being sold. Of course, might not fit into your schedule, but there are regional meetings and shows. Maybe something to consider in the future - the Ohio National or other show.

And, depending on your goals and interests, you may want to get a Java that is good, but bring it closer to the APA Standard of Perfection. Join APA or just buy the book of standards from the APA website.
