I'm still looking for some olive eggers. My last hatch didn't turn out well. Only got 3 to hatch and they are all cockerels.

Would my Golden Cuckoo maran over some of my blue/green laying hens make an olive egger chick?

I think she wants olive eggers. I may be confused..but i think they are differant than the regular blue/green layers. I think to get an olive egger you need a brown egg rooster over a blue/green laying hen and the babies will lay a pretty dark olive green egg. I think...i'm still not sure how it really works..

Okay, someone just told me that you do indeed get olive eggers with a brown roo over a blue/green hen.
So..if you want some cheap eggs i can send you some. Heres the thing though..My Roo's are: Golden Cuckoo Maran (hes the head roo), a white Ameraucana, and a sissy Araucana (he's very pretty though). So, you may get some pure/mixed Ameraucanas or Araucanas..not Olive eggers. But my Golden Cuckoo IS the main roo..and i see him on them alot. So the odds are that you will get Olive eggers.
THe hens are: 2 EE's, 2 Araucanas ( one is rumpless..and they already lay olive-ish color green egg.), 2 white Ameraucanas, and 1 wheaten Ameraucanas

THese birds all came from very good BYC breeders..except 1 EE and the 1 wheaten. All are pure breeds. Well except the EE'S ..

Let me know if you want some eggs. I cant do too many at a time but i'll send what i get in a few days period. Plus i have other breeds (all pure) also, but the babies would be mutts because they all run together with these 3 roo's.

sex does not matter with the blue egg gene.
dark brown egger X blue egger= oliver egger.

It's helps if the blue egger has two copies of the blue egg gene.
More of the offspring will lay olive eggs.
