I recently lost two hens - one was egg bound and the other died of unknown causes after stopping laying for about three weeks. We are left with one wonderful friendly rhode island red who is a marvelous layer. i am just worried she's going to be lonely as chickens are supposed to be in flocks, even very small flocks - not "only" chickens.
I would very much like to purchase either a buff orpington or an ameraucana or both - at least eight weeks old so they can go in the coop with my rhode island red.
I am in Pennsylvania in the Wallingford/Swarthmore area but will happily drive wherever I have to go to get these healthy friendly pullets.
Anyone have either or both breeds available?
