Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think the offspring's egg color depends a lot on the color of egg that the rooster hatched from. So, even if you get multicolored eggs from all different shades from the same folk, then you stand the chance of getting only a few colors from the offspring. I may be wrong....

Yes, yes please pics of birds and eggs! I though the color of the offspring egg depended on the color of the egg they hatched out of???? Chickschook or Chookschick can't remember which has olive eggs. I'm supposed to get a dozen from her about the same time I want to get these other colors.

I have some really beautiful olive eggs. I will get a pic of them tonight and post them. The parents are ROO: Splash Americana and Hen: Wheaten Americana. I just hatched some out and most were a beautiful blue babies.

Oh I forgot to say that I have Olive Green, mint green, blue (limited) and pink (limited as I only have 1 pink layer)

Thats true, so it is a bit of an experiment... Last year we crossed australorps with ameraucanas. the eggs went a deep olive. LOVE IT...

So this year I have bright blue, olive, pink buff, and brown eggs, but my roo is Pure Barnvelder. Huge egg, med - dark brown ... So who knows what will come of that. Kind of fun to keep the hens that the kids fall in love with and lay great!

I also sell our hatching eggs, pure Barnevelder are 4.00 per egg and any crosses are 2.00. I do have them listed here at BYC and some pictures on my page....

Oh oops! Sorry guys I forgot all about this thread! lol

Eggs actual color looks a little different. Because it is really hard to get egg photos be be exact. But you get the point.

I will add some bird pictures in a minute.
