WTH is this?!

Our chickens have a coop inside our porch and we have had these little pests forever. They show up in our bedroom (20ft away) anywhere from 9/10 pm to 2am. They don't bite us.
He's been saying they were on the chickens I've been saying no because I was sure we had them at least once before the chickens arrived. Then I found this while cleaning up their bed.
That feather has been on our wall for at least a week.

Doesn't look like a mite to me. Not able to identify from the picture. Before you treat make sure what you're treating for. I would check the birds over good. Some mites only come out and feed on the birds at night. I use a headlamp so I have both of my hands free and after they roost I inspect the birds. I also take some paper towels and rub the roosts top and under the roosts and look for any streaks on the paper towel which is usually from mites. Good luck...
