Here, this might help. Rust, the darker red on the shoulder or wing is a male only color. And saddle feathers are also a rooster only feature.

Dark red on the shoulders can sometimes be seen on hens. What’s male-specific is the fact that those shoulder feathers are shiny and pointed, like the saddle.

It is Rare though and easier to see in combination with the feather patterns on a bird you are unsure off.
