Hi, chicken friends! I'm spending some Sunday great quality time with my chicks this afternoon. I'm still trying to figure out what breed is Tengu, one of our favorite chicks. The breeder was away when I picked up the chicks from his wife. She thought it was a comet, but it definitely doesn't look like a comet to me. The breeder said he had Ameriaunas for sale, which it could be, but after looking at pictures of different breeds, I think it resembles a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Maybe something else? What do you think?

My flock of 7 are all about 1.5 weeks old. This is the only chick I have of this breed. The others (2 RIR, 2 WL, 2 CBM OR Asian Black) are all developing bigger feathers, tails, and combs. This one has small wing feathers, no tail, and not much of a comb. So interesting! I was wondering if it could be a cockerel when I got even more curious about the breed question. Thanks!

Agreed. She looks just like the Golden Laced Wyandotte that I had.

That would be awesome. I love Wyandottes. I'm excited to watch this one grow.

This is Tengu at 9 weeks. What a handsome cockerel! He did turn out to be a GLW. He's also the most wiley and hard to catch. I've been pasture raising him and my flock in my backyard under a big, shady pecan tree since last month. I'm very proud of how they have done so far. They are so much fun and add a lot of joy to my life. This flock has 5 pullets and 2 cockerels. The boys are behaving themselves for now. Tengu is the smallest roo and isn't crowing yet.
