Cockerel, the patterning looks male. Females normally have a much more even pattern.

x2. Something else that I don't know if plays to big of a part, but those legs look pretty thick and sturdy to me, a trait that cockerels often have.

Now that You Pointed that out, My GIRLS have slender delicate legs....... and they have pretty patterns.
