I have a blue laced red Wyandotte rooster 2 blue laced red hens - they will give me 50% blue laced red chicks correct?

I also have a blue Wyandotte hen and a splash hen. If I breed to them what will that give me using my brlw rooster?

ive seen post about it but I’ve gotten confused and just need some guidance as how I would label hatching eggs to sale locally.

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined.

The B/B/S gene is an incomplete or partially dominant gene that only modifies feathers that would normally be black. If you have two copies of it at that gene pair you get splash. If only one is B/B/S you get blue. If neither are B/B/S you default to black.

Yes if you hatch enough chicks. The more you hatch the more the averages mean something. So assume "BL" is the partially dominant form and "bl" is the recessive form. Both parents are Bl-bl. They will randomly pass down these genes so you can get these four combinations.

Bl-Bl - Splash
Bl-bl - Blue
bl-Bl - Blue
bl-bl - Black

So if averages hold true you will get 25% Splash, 50% Blue, and 25% Black.

I think you are talking about a solid blue hen and a solid splash hen that are not laced and are using the same Blue Laced Red rooster. I'm making the assumption that these are pure in the critical genes. A solid blue or splash chicken would otherwise be solid black but black is a pretty dominant gene. It's always possible something else could be hiding under that black that messes this up. You might want to do a test hatch before you start selling these eggs.

With your BLR rooster over a solid blue hen the blue would act the same as above. So you would get 25% splash, 50% blue, and 25% black. I do not think the lacing would show through on the Splash or Black, but it should on the Blue.

With your BLR rooster over a Splash hen, you are combining Bl-bl with Bl-Bl. So 50% will be Bl-Bl Splash, and 50% will be Bl-bl, or Blue. Again I'd expect the Blue to show lacing, the Splash should not.
