Wyoming Chicken Lover!

Having the worst time with poultry over here. Going to have to fix a lot of things before we add to our dwindling flock. Predators are tearing us apart. Worst part is they are our own **** dogs. WAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Owell. Think positive. Still have peacocks, ducks, guineas and chickens. Just a bit less in the chickens department. It's totally true that everyone loves the taste of chicken lol Ducks can't even fly up out of reach and they have never been touched. /sigh

I know how you feel....I have been thiking about doing it the old skool ranchers way.....chicken attached to the dogs neck for a week or 2 in the hot sun before I punishing the dog with the torn a a part chicken.....but I have kids so I couldn't do that...now I have the dog contained in a different area...but will have the dog out on a chain/leash to train him....chicken are friends......not your food...that's how I also trained them arond our mousers...
I also see you have Welsummers ho/ where did you purchase these and do you have any pictures you would like to share....since a short time I am a Regional (Western) Director of the WCNA ..Welsummer Club of North America.. do/did you like them?

Hey everyone. Wondering if anyone in WY sells turkeys. I bought 5 and only one survived all those freak late snow storms we had. Would love to have 10.

Otherwise my chicken farming is going well. Have a bunch of babies running around right now. Killed our rooster as he was extremely mean. Then I had to kill our male ducks as there was no rooster to protect the hens from them. So I pretty much have all females right now. Waiting to see if we get a kind rooster from our chicks.

LOVE having my peacocks. On that note I'm looking for more if you know anyone. I'd really like some pied or white.

Hope you are all well!

Hey there to all the wyominites out there, just got back into the chicken thing and cant wait for those fresh eggs lol.

I'm in Torrington if anyone around this area is on here.

Hi everyone...been a while since I have been on here!!! Been busy this summer building coops. I had my own dogs attack my flock this summer as well...I lost 15, 4 of which were my very expensive Cream Legbar Hens. So I just received a replacement shipment of them. They are only about 8 weeks old, so it will be awhile before they are laying. I did hatch out some of my own barnyard mix this summer and have some interesting looking birds. Hoping to have breeding pens built soon and then I will have some pure eggs. Going to have a pen for my French Black Copper Marans, Cream Legbars, Silkie/Showgirls and Yokahamas. Might run a pen with my black Ameracauna roo over some EE's and a marans hen to get some olive eggers. What projects do you all have going on?

Sounds like a great variety. I am starting a French Black Copper Maran and blue orpington project. Will also have olive eggers available next spring.
