Xbox 360 Live users...question?

I was going to purchase the Live Gold, then I noticed there are other options like Gold w/chat. My xbox came with a headset and didn't know if you can talk to people with the regular gold? I am not getting the chat keypad and only want to use the headset for strategy games/team games. Which "Live" do I want? Opinions, experience, etc all appreciated

thanks, there just seem to be so many options. When I was a kid our only choices were games and which system you wanted

Points are for movie rentals, game ad-ons, arcade games, original Xbox games, etc.

As long as you have a headset you don't need anything else.
