I have 3 yellow gold pheasants. All between 3-4 weeks old. They all seemed fine until weak 3. 2 are having problems. They lay down constantly. There legs are tucked forward, and very week. I thought there brooder was to small. But they just hid in a corner in a larger environment. I gave them both a healthy dose of yogurt. It did seem to get them up on there feet. Could the problem be with feed? I've been giving them the same chick starter I give my chickens. Are they lacking something? I gave them a slightly larger cage today in hopes exercise will help.

I feed my pheasants and pea chicks gamebird chick starter feed, which has a much higher percentage of protein, which is needed for growth. Mine have flourished on it. I have fed mine the regular medicated chick starter but they seem to grow much better and faster on the medicated gamebird chick starter. I found this out by posing a question about the proper care of pea chicks and pheasants on this very website!

Thanks for the advice. I bought game starter. I can see a difference in them now after just a few days. There a lot spunkier. There all walking now too. The 1 is still a bit lame, but getting better. Thanks All!

kikescove.com :

DO NOT FEED CHICKEN STARTER TO BABY PHEASANTS..........

(not yelling, just making a point) It will plug up their intestinal tract and they WILL DIE.
STOP immediately

nobody sent that memo to my pheasants. they were all raised on chicken starter and none have died. in fact, they're HUGE and thriving.

YES, BUT NOW YOU KNOW!

Ok, I found the cure threw a friend thats been raising birds for 35 years. Pheasants & amusingly other birds get a calcium build up, that causes leg problems. It can be cured simply with sunlight. My birds went from the brooder to a coop. That was the problem. I set them in the sun for a few hours a day now. I think the sun adds vitamin D to there body. It seems to be working. Even the lamest chick is up & about.
