YAHOO!!! Got my first egg today. 'Baby Got Back' my 20 wk old Barred Rock was in the stock tank brooder full of shavings I have left in the coop and thinking of just letting them use that as a HUGE community nest box - she went back in the coop after I let everyone out in the run at 6 am.
She was in the corner with her rear in the air making little clucking sounds.
I called my 19 yr old daughter around noon to see if she'd go out and look to see if we got our first egg and she said 'no, you know I don't like chickens'. Darn, I had to wait till I got home from work. Just like Christmas, I go out to the coop, not taking the time to change out of work cloths or shoes, full of anticipation and sure enough, there it was.
One small, tan, perfect egg!!!!! SO EGGSIGHTING!!!
