After 3x's putting eggs in the incubator...Finally, I think (8) out of the 19 eggs in the incubator Are Fertile. It's early, only Day 4...I Can See a RED Spot in 8 of the eggs for sure & the yolk part is a darker/more noticeable color than in the other 11 eggs. Yahoo...* Do you think I Have some Fertile duck eggs finally?

OK, keep turning them 3x a day spray with whater once you turn them keep Humidity at 50 and try not to candle every day. Im only on my 2nd hatching the 1st one I candled alot and didnt see a big difference coz I was doing it lik...EVERY DAY but this hatch, I candled at day 5 and last night, they are due on the 21st.

Thank you... yes finally & it is a great feeling to get some good/fertile eggs, I just hope I can be successful all the way to the end.

What do you think is the best thing for me to do about the eggs, right now I have them in the auto tuner. I bought it cuz I wasn't doing a good job at remembering to turn them on time. I know you turn yours by hand. Does it really matter which way they get turned? I have actually been doing pretty good at remembering to check temp, humidity and misting the eggs. (just took a while getting use to.) ~~* Let me know what you think is best at this point please... Thanks so much for your help, Julie

We all learn by our mistakes, and we all have to start at the bottom and work our way up. 1 thing I wont do again is a staggered hatch unless you have 2 incubators, its just to much worry & stress, so just keep doing the minimal. turn, spray and keep an eye on your heat & humidity and you should be good, then once you go into lockdown, up your humidity, LEAVE them alone, dont open the bator, or stress over it. You are going to be just fine and in a few weeks you can post hundreds of pics of your ducks for us all to swoon over

EDITED to say, I put an X and an O on either side, I have mine laying down on the side, but for the 1st few days I propped the 1st egg up against the side of the bator and rseted the rest against it so the big round end it a little higher than the pointy end. When I go to turn them I dont even pick them up, so if they are on X I wet my finger so it grips the egg

and roll them towards me to the O, I have 1 of those little spray pumps you get at Walmart for $1 and I fill it half full, spray the eggs once turned and tip the rest over the face cloth under my basket, put the lid on and leave them. I turn when I get up (around 8 ish) then I turn again around 3 to 4ish (if you have kids...when they get in from school) then turn them before I go to bed.

wait for someone else to chime in, everyone does it different, but it would be a waste of money if you didnt use your turner. Maybe the next time round try it without the turner then you can see how you feel about it

when I candled I was being careful not to move eggs around a lot or too fast. The red spot was an eye catcher right off.. I could really see a difference in the good/eggs. I Wont remove any eggs yet, some eggs went in incubator (14 Hours) apart. 1:30am Tuesday & 4pm Tues. So some more could still be fertile. <<< My yolk is More at the "fat end" of the egg when i turned it long ways in my hand to candle. IT Doesn't look like the pictures you posted of your eggs when you candled and held them long ways. IS that cuz, yolk/egg is sitting up in the Auto Turner?? Thanks, Julie
