Y'all are inspiring!

I decided to start my venture into building by attempting to build an outdoor house for our cats, like a doghouse but smaller. My daughter wants to help, so it will be a good starter project. We do have some 2x4's around and an old pallet. This should be good practice. My 10 year old will probably be a natural at it. :gig

Pocket screws can make building things so much easier... here is a cost effective pocket screw jig. I used pocket screws to build the frame of my "coop".

Thank you for the tip! I think my DH actually has one of those pocket screw jig kits. I will have to ask him. If not, it would be worth getting.
I think starting small with the cat house, and getting to build something with my daughter, will be good practice.

JT - you sir, are a vault of great information! I'd been looking to pick up a pocket screw jig at Harbor Freight but they didn't have one. Thanks for posting the link to this one on Amazon!

@techbsmith while I own a Kreg K4 the Impakt Tools P1 seems to provide the same function as the K4 at a fraction of the price. The big advantage of the K4 and P1 is the adjustment for different thicknesses of wood. All the other low cost jigs only work with 3/4" thick wood. Be sure and let us know how you like the Impakt Tools P1.
