This is the first time I've ever had a chicken go broody on me so young. Usually I let them hatch out their eggs, but that was before I had to switch to bantams . . . plus they'd be mutts, so I don't relish trying to find any chicks a home.
I took out the decoy eggs, and every time I walk out there I pick her up and carry her around a bit before plopping her down in the farthest corner of the yard . . . I don't relish building a broody jail.
I did try putting her in the coop where I keep my three teenagers (no nest boxes and such), but she gets rather nasty with them and I'd be paranoid if I left her alone with them. Does anyone think it would be okay if I just put her with them at night, or is that asking for trouble? She's at the bottom of the totem pole and has always been more violent with new chickens because of it, but they've always been old enough that I didn't worry too much.
