Yeah, I know it’s too early to know, but aren’t they adorable? The 8-month old cockerel is a BLRW. He’s a handsome guy and an excellent roo in training!

Two of the chicks, who hatched on 23 & 24 May, are Easter Eggers. One is a black Jersey Giant. One is most likely a GLW, one is either a New Hampshire red or (less likely) a Salmon Faverolle. And the sixth is most likely a Speckled Sussex. I can’t tell yet how many are female and how many will be going to Camp Crockpot. Wanna guess?

They are. The cockerel is a BLRW. He’s a handsome boy - and is turning into a really great rooster!

They’re so stinkin’ cute!! Today was the first day that they really kept some distance from Mom. And they’re establishing their pecking order. They all jump on each other a lot, but right now, it seems like there’s no clear “winner.”

When I checked on them last evening, there were three that were dozing away from Momma. The other three were not really under her, just kinda hanging in the general vicinity.

I’m thrilled that they are not at all afraid of the rest of the flockers and seem to fit right in. If I ever want more chicks, I’m definitely letting Goldie hatch them out!

Omg, two of the minis got all the way up on the second poop deck last evening! Momma got up there with the two, but the other four were with me in the run, so they didn’t see how she got up there. The four came in the coop and were ready to go to bed in the nest box, so she hopped down to join them. The two minis left up on the deck just flew down calm as could be and went to bed in the nest box. I’m betting before the weekend is over, everyone will be sleeping on the roosts!
