Here are some pictures of my first Silkie chicks (4 of our 5)! This was my first time incubating (or owning chicks) and I used a LG bator with a turner. I started out with 23 eggs, but the incubator got left open at one point for a while during the day, so down to 11 eggs (probably only 10 developing) at lockdown. So far we have 5 healthy silkie chicks! It is the end of day 23 - what are the odds that we have more still to come? I have been trying to carefully moniter the temperature and humidity. Here are some pictures of our chicks! Can anybody tell me what color it looks like they will be? Thanks so much from a newbie!

I don't know what color they'll be....but they are cuuuuutie pies!! Nothing like the feeling of raising your own from an egg!! Congratulations!!

Congrats.

just wanted to say what little cuties you had.. I am about 99% sure silkies are going to be my next hatch - gotta love them!!!!

Good Job! You might get some more if the lid was off for a litle bit. Let us know!

Thanks! They are pretty cute! The lady who I got the eggs from had about every color imaginable and she tried to give me a varity. But the buffs and whites were laying the most eggs, so they will probably be one of those. I just wasn't sure because some of them have gray on their backs. I did end up with a chick with a crooked beak (the lady offered to replace her, but I can't drive an hour for a replacement chick), she seems to be the smartest one of the bunch! I also have an unusual little chick with pink feet and 4 toes on one foot and 5 toes on another (possibility it might be a frizzle or sizzle)... Still waiting on the other 5-6 eggs!

Amy,

They are little cuties. Keep that bator going, you could very well get a few more.

They look like little buff's to me and they may loose the darker color on thier backs when they start to feather out in 3 weeks.

Good luck with them.

Silkies !
