Is it safe for them to have dirt in their nostrils??? My mixture has peat moss, sand, and a little dusting of DE food grade

Totally normal! Dust bathing is good for them.
lol yea it is :) but im more concerned about the dirt thats getting into their nostrils D: has been causing them to sneeze quite a bit.

Are you suree haha theyve been sneezing quite a bit =(
yes I am pretty sure... a chicken will stick its whole beak in the ground and scrape its beak across dirt, sand, mud, or any other surface... The chicken may have dirt in its nose and that may be the reason the chick is sneezing but it may not be as well... either way the dirt will not harm your chick eventually it will come out... as far as the sneezing part, there are many reasons why chickens sneeze just like there are for humans and other animals! Im sorry its frustrating for you but i would not worry

Funny about this. Our chicks were also 10 days old when they had their first dirt bath yesterday... which was also the day Momma Bea took them out of the coop for the first time. Watching chicks discover the world is better than TV!
